I'm done. It's not my job, it should be done by the men who are defending and promoting the celebrity preacher who is (to paraphrase a friend) the Reformed world's Benny Hinn. And I am tired of feeling like a pornographer every time I pass on the relevant links, only doing so because I have a tough time saying "no" to my friends (and that is my problem, not theirs). So here are the relevant keywords. Beyond this, anyone who is curious about the brouhaha will have to do their own research:
Mark Driscoll
Blog and Mablog
Peasant Princess
Cessationism
Pyromaniacs
My condolences for having to suffer this nonsense.
ReplyDeleteThe cry of the Reformation was "ad fontes!" By that they meant the Bible and the early Fathers. I think there is a need today for the same cry, "ad fontes!" Meaning the Bible, the Fathers and the Reformers. See, it's not just the Cathodox who need Reformation.
And if I see one more pastor with one of those silly headset microphones, I'm going to scream! Get a real preacher's microphone, buddy! And a real wooden pulpit too, placing it preferably to the liturgical north of the altar, not in front of it! You look like an out-of-place talk show producer.

I've read your blog for a long time. I don't think I've ever commented but.....Your posts are starting to make less and less sense, to anyone who doesn't already know what you're talking about. To the point where I wouldn't even know where to start looking. Which might be what you're going for?
ReplyDeleteWhile I have not had the philosophical/religious training that the author and some of her friends have had, I find that if I will follow the links and look up definitions when necessary, I can follow the arguments fairly well, and I believe it is worth the effort! Whether you agree or disagree, I believe there is commentary here that exposes alot of nonsense that passes for wisdom these days!
